R Programming

R is well-suited for applied statistics and data science

With many packages for analytics and modeling, R is well-regarded by statisticians. When statistical methods are developed, R is often the first place where they are implemented.

R is an excellent choice for scientific programming, biometrics, and applied research.

R is a excellent choice for exploratory data analysis and data visualization.

Many R packages are available from The Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN)

Note that R licensing places restrictions on its use in commercial applications. So, if a company is planning to build software products for sale, Python or Go would be a better choice than R.

Students benefit by taking the R Learning Studio prior to taking other courses that depend on R.

Students get an in-depth review of R in the core course MSDS 401-DL Applied Statistics with R
